About Us

Leslie Watkins is a Connecticut Master Gardener and holds a certificate in horticulture from Northwestern Connecticut Community College. She designs, paints and maintains gardens in NWCT. Watkins’ garden design illustrations have been published in Rodale’s “Perennial Combinations” and in magazines including Fine Gardening, Horticulture, Kitchen Gardener, and in The New York Times. Her botanical watercolors have appeared on notecards, home goods and postage stamps. When not gardening, Leslie is a landscape oil painter, botanical illustrator, instructs watercolor classes and papercrafting workshops. Lawrence Davis-Hollander is the founding Director of the Eastern Native Seed Conservancy, one of the first organizations dedicated to preserving and promoting heirloom vegetable varieties.  He trained as a botanist with a sub-specialty in ornamental plants and art history at Connecticut College where he designed the plantings for the new library. He farmed organic vegetables in New York State before it was fashionable. At Harvard University he studied economic and ethnobotany with Richard Evans Schultes, one the world’s foremost botanists specializing in medicinal plant uses.

Rachel Perry is a Connecticut Master Gardener and is a Plant Whisperer in training. She’s passionate about all things nature and is our “Go-t0” person for just about everything, she does it all!
